River Canard Mallards News
Nathan
Picchioni
Is Back.
One of Windsor-Essex baseball’s most recognizable athletes is officially returning to green and cream.
Nathan Picchioni is back with the River Canard Mallards after spending the 2025 season competing with the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers — one of Ontario’s premier independent baseball organizations playing in what is now known as the Canadian Baseball League.
Known throughout the region for his speed, athleticism, and versatility, Picchioni has built a reputation as one of the area’s most complete ballplayers. Whether it’s tracking down baseballs in the gap, creating pressure on the bases, or bringing energy to the dugout, Nathan impacts the game in every phase.
Before his time at the senior level, Picchioni developed into one of the top local talents in Windsor-Essex baseball through both the Windsor Selects organization and St. Anne Catholic High School, where he helped establish himself as one of the area’s most dynamic athletes.
His baseball journey eventually took him to Lawrence Technological University in Michigan, where he competed at the NAIA collegiate level while studying Electrical Engineering. During his college career, Nathan continued to sharpen the all-around skillset that made him successful locally — combining speed, defensive range, and high-level athleticism against strong collegiate competition.
“Nathan brings experience, athleticism, energy, and high-level baseball instincts every single time he steps on the field.”
His experience with Chatham-Kent gave him the opportunity to compete against some of the province’s top talent in one of Canada’s strongest senior baseball environments. That experience now returns to River Canard as the Mallards continue building one of the deepest rosters in the region heading into 2026.
For the Mallards, Nathan’s return is more than just another player addition — it’s another hometown athlete bringing high-level experience back to the organization and continuing to raise the standard of baseball in Windsor-Essex.
